"We are in grave danger of losing a spiritual heritage that has been painfully accumulated by thousands of generations of saints and contemplatives ... Above all, it is important that this element of depth and integrity - this element of inner transcendent freedom - be kept intact as we grow toward full maturity ... We are witnessing the growth of a truly universal consciousness in the modern world ... To cling to one partial view ... and to treat this as the ultimate answer to all questions is simply to ... make oneself obdurate in error."
~Thomas Merton

love the quote.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, that first one, speaks to me in particular today. My sweet friend Sara has an enormous faith steeped in Catholicism and I am taking that wonderful imagery with me today. Praying that those church bells ring soon, out across the world. I'm so glad I got to see that image today Bonnie, thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful steeple! I love your creativity with this picture!
ReplyDeleteHI BONNIE - that is a wonderful quote. and your pictures are amazing. I like the first one better. Oh, one more thing, I, at times, refer to myself as a "recovering Catholic"!! :-)

that second imageis a bit creepy just saying...ha...really both are nice...like the merton quote...i think it involves spirituality as a whole as well beyond organized religeon as it seemswe let it slip further away...
ReplyDeleteI love seeing a white steeple against a clear blue sky. I like the effects you used on the first photo.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with this Bonnie! Two very different looks and "feels" to them. As always, your work is just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this at The Creative Exchange.
Have a wonderful evening!

You do produce some stunning photographs. I have just been scrolling back and I love the fence with a peek at the garden behind it through the posts.
ReplyDeleteI like the first image best and really enjoy the light source behind it. Love the quote, I am working hard to embrace the church along with my other beliefs. It will take a global community to repair the world...Tikkun Olam.
