Yes, a little...but I think my attitude may have something to do with it.Kathryn
yeah, but i would favor that over not being tinkered with...keeps life interesting at least. smiles.
This is a meaningful quote which turns notions upside down. God is there creating the problems, not necessarily taking them away. The turmoil is the divine. This is also different from some notions that God brings challenges as a test.
Kathryn: Glad to have you pop in again!
Brian: Yes, change does make life interesting and keep us on our toes.
Paul C: Or, if you want to turn it upside down even further - is Jung questionning the concept of God? I interpret this as saying that God is the change or upset which provokes growth - rather than a being in the sky determining our fate.

Sensible fellow, that Carl. Your quotes are so bang on sometimes Bonnie, that I think you could market yourself as a kind of horoscopic seer-type for Page 3 of the local paper!
Jung's definition of God will do for me. We too often have the human-centric idea that if we pray hard enough God will intervene on our behalf, if we are 'good' He will spare us suffering, if we are 'bad' He will punish us etc. Err, no, it ain't like that. We can't influence God. But we can be influenced by that force of the universe, or God, or whatever you choose to call it. It's how we react to, and are challenged and changed by all these unforeseen, apparently random and chaotic, often violent and disturbing events that matters.
What this quote reminds me of: I think it is said of Ghandhi that when he met a person that was challenging he would say: 'You can't fool me God, I know you are in there'. For me this quote speaks of seeing God in everything.
It seems the last year and a half I have been tasked with the lesson of patience.
What that saying, "If you want to make God laugh, just make plans?" (Or something like that!)
What a wonderful thought.
