Dear Delwyn from A Hazy Moon has informed me that the quote above is by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

  1. Beautiful and so deeply true! I do love coming here..I always feel lighter when I visit you! You make me contemplate things..I love that. I often need a reminder to stop and breathe or just be for a bit!

  4. The beauty of quotes is that everyday you come across one that makes you think: 'Why on earth did I not write that?' That quote is so simple and yet so true and beautiful. I would put it on my bathroom door if I had not outsourced the house design to my wife long time ago :-).

    Many thanks.

    Greetings from London.

  5. What lies within is the treasure. We just have to figure out how to share it.

  6. The quote resonates with me... but I also am struck by the vivid purple in the background. I love the faint striations in the flower petals... a petunia perhaps? Love those shades of purple!

  10. hi bonnie ~ this quote reminds me of one of my life long favourites that i discovered when i was a youth visiting the chapel at the international peace gardens, just south of boissevain, manitoba. it was an albert camus quote that i have carried as a mantra forever ...

do not walk behind me, i may not lead
do not walk ahead of me, i may not follow
just walk beside me, and be my friend.

hugs to you for a wonderful weekend my friend,
    prairiegirl xo

  12. Simply gorgeous!!! I think that this is a photo of either a petunia or a morning glory...and the inspiring words of Holmes make this even more rich...and should serve to grace our lives each and everyday!!! Thank you, Bonnie! You never fail to inspire me!!! And thank you for your friendship!! I can't find words enough to express how much it means to me!!! You are simply indescribably wonderful! Love you! Janine XO

  15. After wriitng my comment the author didn't sound right to me so I looked it up again and found:

Henry David Thoreau penned those lovely words...

"What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen"-

so we have 3 attributions now
